The advent of Fast Track Court System, powered by Browse.Com Nig Ltd (offices in Abuja and Accra Ghana) and international partners have given the nation’s judiciary a face-lift that may revolutionize the administration of Justice in the Country.

Over the years, administration of Justice by the judicial arm of government has been a challenging task especially in a heterogeneous society like Nigeria.  In most cases, litigations linger as long as 10 years.  In extreme cases, one or more of the parties in the matter even die while the suit is still pending in the court.  Henceforth, the judiciary and the nation at large should heave a sigh of relief with the coming to life of a leading Information and communication Technology (ICT) Company, Browse.Com Nig Ltd to the current reforms going on in the nation’s judiciary.  At the commissioning ceremony which took place at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court, Abuja, the President/CEO of Browse.Com, Mr. Charles Anosike and his team of professionals made an indelible mark in repositioning the court for efficient performance.

As part of the due diligence required by the judiciary before committing to deploy Browse.com Fast track court System, the Minister of Justice, Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN), the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Roseline Ukeje and Chief Judge of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Justice Lawal Gumi, on February 22nd 2006 visited a live site of Fast Track Court System in Ghana.  The Chief Software architect Mr Chris Munga made a demonstration of the System.  The primary aim of the visit was to see first hand the required infrastructure and the mode of operation.  The delegation inter alia met with the  Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice G.K Acquah, Mr Anuison (the first coordinator of the FTC in Ghana), Regina Akposi (the Judicial Secretary), Mrs Sandra Kofi (representing the project development unit), members of the inner council of the Bar, (i.e. President and Secretaries of Bar Associations from the regions).  The hosts’ comments were impressive and informative.

The nation’s judiciary on April 19 witnessed a major milestone as President Olusegun Obasanjo commissioned the fast track system of justice administration in all court processes.  This is a development that will engender confidence in judicial process.

The President stated that ‘The system involves electronic transmission and processing of court processes, rulings and judgments, hence facilitating the sharing of information, data and references between judicial officials.  The system also affords litigants access to speedy and efficient disposition of cases, thus contributing to the decongestion of not only the court system, but also our  overcrowded prison structure whose population comprises a disproportionately  high number of inmates awaiting trials.’

The President congratulated the judges, whom he described as the vanguard of landmark revolution in justice administration, and urged them to always uphold the status of the new court since the judiciary is the hope of the common man.

The number one citizen also observed that the effort of the present administration in attracting foreign direct investment,EDI,through the creation of an investment friendly environment would easily come to fruition with the establishment of an efficient, and speedy court system.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Attorney general of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Bayo Ojo noted that with this fast track court system, all courts will be networked on a Local Area Network [LAN] and Wide Area Network [WAN].Proceedings of courts are recorded and transcripts produced in 24 hours, court orders and rulings are produced immediately and signed by the judge.
